Glance Deck — Open-Source and Third-Party Notices

Last updated: May 17, 2026

The Glance Deck product, website, and web-based firmware installer include third-party open-source software. We are grateful to the open-source community. Each component below is the property of its respective copyright holders and is provided under its own license. The relevant license grants and notices below apply to those components only and not to the proprietary Glance Deck Software. Nothing in the Glance Deck Terms of Service or EULA limits the rights you have under these open-source licenses with respect to the components they cover.

The complete, unmodified text of every license below is published at glancedeck.com/legal/THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.txt. Because the firmware is distributed as a binary image that cannot itself carry a text file, that web-hosted copy — linked from the Web Installer at install time and from the on-device website pointer — is how these notices accompany the software. A copy is also available on request at support@glancedeck.com.

Note: Some Espressif-managed components are present in the source tree but are excluded from the shipped firmware by build configuration and are not distributed in the product binaries.

1.1 LGPL-2.1 Written Offer (arduino-esp32)

The firmware statically incorporates the Arduino core for ESP32, licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 (LGPL-2.1). In accordance with that license, GT Media will, for any recipient of a Glance Deck device or firmware image, make available the LGPL-licensed library source code and the Glance Deck object files (or other materials) sufficient to allow you to modify the LGPL-covered portions and relink them with the rest of the firmware.

To obtain these materials, contact support@glancedeck.com referencing "Glance Deck LGPL request." We may charge no more than a reasonable cost for the physical act of distribution. This offer is valid for at least three (3) years from your receipt of the firmware. The corresponding source for the LGPL-covered library is also available from its upstream project (Espressif Systems, arduino-esp32).

1.2 Font Awesome Free — Required Attribution (CC BY 4.0)

The Glance Deck firmware displays icons derived from Font Awesome Free, version 7.2.0. Font Awesome Free is dual/triple-licensed by component; the license stamped by Font Awesome into every source icon is reproduced verbatim below:

Font Awesome Free 7.2.0 by @fontawesome — https://fontawesome.com License — https://fontawesome.com/license/free (Icons: CC BY 4.0, Fonts: SIL OFL 1.1, Code: MIT License) Copyright 2026 Fonticons, Inc.

Only the icon artwork is used in this product (no Font Awesome webfont and no Font Awesome code are distributed), so the governing license for the bundled material is the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/. The SIL OFL 1.1 (fonts) and MIT (code) components of Font Awesome are not used here. This is not Font Awesome 4.x (which is SIL OFL 1.1 + MIT); the bundled assets are Font Awesome Free 7.2.0 and are governed by the notice above.

Modifications (required CC BY 4.0 disclosure): the original Font Awesome SVG icons have been modified by GT Media for embedded rendering — converted to flattened polygon-outline vertex data, curve-flattened, re-scaled, and normalized to a fixed coordinate space. The icons as shipped are a modified form of the originals; Fonticons, Inc. does not endorse GT Media or this product.

This section constitutes the attribution required by CC BY 4.0. It is published at glancedeck.com/legal/open-source and reproduced in the full license document at glancedeck.com/legal/THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.txt.

2. Components in the Website (glancedeck.com) and Web Installer (flash.glancedeck.com)

The web-based installer uses esptool-js, which is licensed under the Apache License 2.0 (not the GPL). It is included unmodified.

Build-time-only tooling (e.g., TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, PostCSS, Autoprefixer — all MIT/Apache-2.0/permissive) is used to create, but is not distributed in, the website or firmware.

3. Full License Texts

The complete, verbatim text of every license referenced above — MIT, FreeBSD (BSD-2-Clause), Apache-2.0 (with applicable NOTICE content), GNU LGPL-2.1, SIL Open Font License 1.1, and Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International — together with each component's copyright line, is published in full at:

glancedeck.com/legal/THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.txt

Because the device firmware is distributed as a binary image that cannot carry a text file, that web-hosted document — linked from the Web Installer at install time and from the on-device website pointer — is the authoritative copy that accompanies the software.

Obligations that also appear on this page:

  • arduino-esp32 (LGPL-2.1-or-later): see the Written Offer in Section 1.1. Full GNU LGPL v2.1 text is in the document above.
  • Font Awesome Free 7.2.0 (CC BY 4.0): the required attribution and the statement of modifications are in Section 1.2. CC BY 4.0 permits commercial use and modification provided appropriate credit is given, a link to the license is provided, and changes are indicated — all satisfied there. License: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode
  • esptool-js is Apache-2.0 (not GPL) and is included unmodified.
  • Inter (SIL OFL 1.1) is used to render text only; it is not sold by itself and is not redistributed as a standalone font file.

Component versions correspond to those declared in the product build manifests. This list is reviewed and updated when dependencies change. If you believe a component or attribution is missing, contact support@glancedeck.com and we will correct it.
